Realities about Ramil Safarov

On February 19, 2004, a bloody incident occurred between Ramil Safarov, officer of Azerbaijan Army, and Armenian officer Gurgen Margarian in Budapest, the capital of Hungary and as a result of it, the Armenian officer was killed. Both officers departed there to study in English courses organized within the framework of NATO. By not investigating the essence and reasons of the incident, the official power and diaspora organizations of Armenia began to use the incident as a toll to hold dirty propaganda campaign against Azerbaijan and for the purpose of striking the international prestige of Azerbaijan Republic, Armenians began to create false idea about the incident in opinion of the world public and international organizations, form non objective public view in Hungary and try to put pressure upon investigative and court bodies with false information, and lately before subsequent court proceeding became  even more activated. Official power ad diaspora organizations of the Republic of Armenia try to annihilate Ramil Safarov somehow. For this purpose, they are taking definite steps.

With tendentious statements official power of Armenia applied to representatives of OSCE and NATO member countries and all international organizations in Armenia. Representatives of Armenian power, Defense Ministry and Ministry of Foreign Affairs moved to Budapest and held meetings in different levels there. Representatives of Defense Ministry of Armenia visit different countries and hold meetings in Hungary Embassies there. They particularly meet military attaches of the embassies there. “Special” classes devoted to Ramil Safarov are held in schools of Armenia, various printed materials are distributed among students. Extensive campaign full of abuse and pressures are carried out on internet sites. Diaspora organizations of Armenia also hold meetings with Hungarian ambassadors in different countries. Ara Abramyan, head of Armenian diaspora in Russia, specially works in this direction. Diaspora organizations of Armenia dispatch their representatives from different countries to Budapest. Diaspora organizations of Armenia also hold lie and calumniation campaign against Azerbaijan and Ramil Safarov on internet sites, and apply to international organizations, world countries and the most different human rights organizations with false documents. Armenians try to create a show around the happened incident. For example, they declared one-day funeral in California state of the USA. By carrying out all these measures, official power and diaspora organizations of Armenia try to achieve annihilation of Ramil Safarov. Armenians don’t want to hide their purposes. Senator Jon Allen who every year receives “donation” of huge amounts from Armenian diaspora in the USA, strictly criticized official Baku, which “avoids condemning violent killing of Armenian officer.” Vahan Siradegyan, one of the heads of Armenian community in Hungay, expressed that Armenians will do their best for punishment of Ramil Safarov and spend every penny for this. Armenak Ter-Hakopyan, bureau member of Dashnaksutyun organization, expressed that they will not put blood of Margarian unanswered. Several Armenian terrorist organizations condemned Ramil Safarov to death in his absence. These are only a part of Armenians acts. However, these facts are also enough to understand insidious goal of Armenians. There is no basis of the issue that Armenians put such a mask on the happened incident. There are concrete reasons for Ramil Safarov to take such a step. Margarian was the sacrifice of Armenians’ 16 years occupation war against Azerbaijan, Armenian violence and terror against Azeri people, indifference of international organizations to Azerbaijan and prepared provocation of Armenian officers participating in the course together with Ramil Safarov including the killed officer.

To understand the essence of happened incident, it needs to pay attention to the history of violence committed by Armenians against Azeri people. Armenians have already waged aggressive war against Azerbaijan for 16 years. In the process of this war, about 200 thousand Azeri people were deported by forces from Armenia and at that time 216 Azerbaijanis were violently killed. Today, Armenia keeps 20 percent territory (14 thousand square kilometers) and 835 settlements of Azerbaijan under its occupation. More than 20 thousand Azerbaijanis were killed and more than 50 thousand people were invalided in result of Armenians’ occupation. At present 4959 Azerbaijanis including 335 women and 71 children are held in Armenian captivity.

Occupation troops and terrorist organizations of Armenia committed violence, which is invisible in the world. According to confession of Armenian press, about 300 civilians and hundreds of soldiers of Azerbaijan who were captivated with direct presence of present Armenian president R. Kocharyan during occupation of Aghdam region were terribly killed by being wildly tortured. In 1992, Khojali city of Azerbaijan was destroyed by Armenians. In result of this occupation, 613 people were wildly killed; more than 1000 people were invalided; 1275 people were captivated, which there is no information on 151 persons of them till present. In 1992, Armenians cruelly killed 70 people including 6 persons 100 years of old and 2 children, and burned 7 women alive in Agdaban village of Kalbajar province. In 1992, Armenians killed just on the spot  76 persons of 117 civilians captivated in Fuzuli region, 40 persons captivated in Goradizli village, 29 persons captivated in Bashlibel village of Kalbajar region, and committed violence  against  corps. Niyaz Zeynalov, the son of Nubar Zeynalova, was burned alive before his mother’s eyes during the occupation of Shusha city. Sarviyaz Ahmadova and her son Mahammad Ahmadov were burned alive at their home during occupation of Khojali. Father of 10 aged Khazangul Ahmadova was burned alive in front of her eyes. In Khankandi, Armenians cut the arm of 16 aged young person and then gradually killed him stabbing him. Together with that young person, they cut the stomach of a woman and dropped a cat into her stomach. Armenians threw cut heads of about 40 Azeri people in front of police department in Asgaran city of Nagorno Karabakh. Armenians behave cruelly to captives. There is official information on death of 412 Azeri captives. Besides, hundreds of data on violence of Armenians are known. Armenians violently used the terror during occupation. Armenia committed 32 big terrorist acts against Azerbaijan and more than 2000 people were victims of these acts, including 198 children have stepped onto mines put by Armenians. Metro carriages have been exploded and hundred of people died as a result of these terrorist acts.

Armenians occupied the hometown of Ramil Safarov, where he was born and grew up. Here 345 persons were brutally killed, 177 persons maimed, and 91 were taken captive. 71 settlements, 132 historical monuments, including valuable monuments dating from 7-8^th centuries, 149 cultural centers, and historical temples date back to VII, XIII centuries beautiful nature were destroyed, and hundreds of civilians were killed by Armenians before his eyes.

Ramil Safarov’s family is the victim of Armenian aggression. He himself, his brother, relatives have been forced to flee from native land and presently live as refugees. Among his close relations: Ramiz Agayev, Ildirim Khuduyev, Shirin Shirinov, Kazim Shirinov, Tahir Shirinov, Arif Alexeev and others have been killed by Armenians. Ramiz Agayev was killed with unseen brutality. He was tortured and killed along with 9 other civilians and then taking out each of the corps’ heart put them into their palms respectively. This violence put their imprint in the memory of Ramil Safarov.

Ramil Safarov was constantly subject to insulting behaviors by late Armenian officer and by other Armenian officers. The Armenian officers used abusive words in respect with Azeri nation, our soldiers and Ramil himself and tried to polish their boots with the national flag of Azerbaijan. They gave Ramil audio cassettes and books directly insulting Azerbaijan nation.

All these prove that Ramil Safarov is the victim of Armenian violence, Armenian terrorism and provocative acts by Armenian officers in Budapest. Therefore, we demand just verdict to be issued in respect with Ramil Safarov and his return to motherland. In order to avoid recurrence of such acts the civilized countries and nations ought to condemn Armenian aggression towards Azeri nation and demonstrate solidarity in struggle of Azerbaijan for justice.
