KHOJALY

Only dead people remained there in Khojaly

No comparisons with Songmi or Hatyn are relevant:
Unlike Khojaly, the militaries then did not collect their victims’ scalps,
Or especially collect auricles. They just killed the inhabitants.

appeal OF AZERBAIJAN REPUBLIC NATIONAL COUNCIL TO PARLIAMENTS OF ALL OTHER WORLD STATES

It is fifth year that Azerbaijan is exposed to uncovered Armenian aggression and innocent people’s blood is shed in here.

The word “genocide” went along with the conflict in Upper Garabagh (‘Nagorno-Karabakh’). The hysterical Armenian and pro-armenian propaganda made it the keyword in its ideological provocations and anti-Azerbaijan insinuations make a victim of an aggressor before the eyes of the world community. And so, the genocide did occur in Upper Garabagh (‘Nagorno-Karabakh’), Azerbaijani town of Khojaly. In 26-27 february of 1992 an awful tragedy that obscures medieval horrors took place. Another town is razed to the ground when atrocious Armenian fascists exterminated thousands of civilians. The fate of over 2000 Khojaly inhabitants is unknown.

These atrocities were done on national basis. Terrorism and hatred to Azerbaijani nation is a part of home policy in Armenia. Over 200 thousands Azerbaijanis were driven out of Armenia (which was a part of Azerbaijan territory till 1918) in 1987, 1988 and 1989. 100 Azerbaijan inhabited localities have recently been destroyed and burnt. All these are the links of one chain which leads to forcible annexation of Upper Garabagh from Azerbaijan.

Aggressor’s cynicism is unlimited. Armenian armed forces deployed large-scale military actions along Azerbaijan-Armenia border.

Azerbaijan Republic National Council as the supreme public authority of the UN full member calls to the world community appealing to strictly condemn the Armenian aggressors who implement the scorched earth policy in Upper Garabagh. The world should know that Armenian authorities and their protectors violate Azerbaijani people’s right to live in their own homes!

Azerbaijan Republic National Council chairman.

pain. I really know what this word means.

I must have faced the most terrible pain when I had an eye-apple burn. 75 days of lying in hospital, 3 operations, disablement. As a chemist I knew what the ‘process’ looked like: the alkali ions corrode the eye-apple, lyse fat cells and slowly go inside. But what I felt is impossible to describe – my eyes, head, my essence were as if burning in an invisible fire…

Later my doctor said: ‘It’s much easier to bear the pain of legs being sawed than eye-burn’.

I checked out from the hospital. Continued working – now wearing dark glasses. One day a friend of mine who often visited me and could see my pains when I was staying in hospital asked me:

‘If you had the second chance would you repeat your life in all details?’

I didn’t know what to answer. Then another disaster happened. My 32 year old son passed the exams and was accepted to continue his post-graduate study at Leningrad (present St.Petersburg) University physics department. There in Leningrad the doctors said he had sarcoma. My son was dying before our eyes during 10 months, day by day, minute by minute. Robust young body didn’t want and could not die. And i had no opportunity to take his pain, at least a little piece of it.

My son died. I had to stay. I did not die. How? What kind of ‘second chance’ can we speak about? Any pain is possible to bear twice, but not the one when you lose a child and can do nothing to rescue him or alleviate his/her sufferings. Nobody will ever agree to face it even though given another chance to live. Is there another kind of pain, more terrible? Still there is. This is a pain of mother’s soul, the limit of human grief. A fact was stated by Nazi psychologists: flogging causes wales both on the back of the punished child and … his/her mother made to watch the flogging.

Then how must have a Khojaly mother felt when her child was beheaded over the grave stone of an Armenian terrorist ‘hero’? it’s officially known about this Armenian ‘innovation’ [21]. But the ‘old Neanderthal traditions’ such like raping children are not forgotten. So, a jewish publicist Lukimson [35] wrote how ‘civilized’ Armenian cutthroats raped an Azerbaijani mother and two daughters, the youngest aged 4. Scalping dead and alive in order to boast of trophy and be granted for ‘military valor’.

A three-year old girl who shook her fist at Armenian soldier was taken from her mother and thrown into fire… lady caroline Cox, don’t you hear the cry of this child? Don’t you hear her mother’s scream? You’re lying! This is why you deserve to be on this mother’s place at least for a day, for an hour, to see your child burnt alive. Will you then justify Armenian cutthroats calling them ‘victims’ and the mother and girl ‘executioners’ at the House of Lords?

On the other hand, why should I tell her about humaneness? Even knowing about the Khojaly tragedy this lady kept shedding crocodile tears about Armenian’s ‘sufferings’.

khojaly. How can one describe the death of a whole town within 6-7 hours? Is it possible at all? Once I saw Brulov’s picture “The last day of Pompeii”. Only a good-natured person could so humanly imagine the last day of Pompeii inhabitants. I’m neither a painter nor Brulov. But I must imagine the last hours of Khojaly town. How? How should I write if there was nothing left at all, everything was pillaged in the night? And most of the inhabitants were killed or captured to be ‘exchanged’ for dollars, petrol or just for fun – to be raped, tortured, scalped, sacrificed in honor of dead Armenian terrorist ‘heros’, burnt.

This is not a game of imagination, but the deeds of an insane breed.

There were many wars causing civilian casualties but what happened in Khojaly is not a war. This is an act of evil, an Armenian act. It’s comparable only with other Armenian acts – in Van, Erzerum, Kars, Bitlis, Cilicia, Sadarak, Nahichevan, Baku, Shemaha, Shusha etc. at the dawn of XX century the world did not see this horrors.

Beginning with 1987, before Khojaly tragedy there were others, not of so large scale, such as over a hundred of Azerbaijani towns and villages in Upper Garabagh (‘Nagorno-Karabakh’). They were ceased by ‘long-suffering’ Armenians in the same Armenian way (as mentioned above) – pillaging, burning, ethnic cleansing. By the way, I was just about to forget the destruction of cemetery – this is called “bulldozer civilization”.

The world ignored this as well. Only about one of such events, the destruction of Baganis-Airym village Russian “IZVESTIYA” wrote with delay: “Almost (?) all of the Baganis-Airym inhabitants had to leave their home places”. That’s it! But how did it happen? This way [“Azerbaijan”, 11.10.91]:

this happened on 24 march, 1990. Armenians who attacked Azerbaijani village from Armenian territory slaughtered all who could not escape. A young 22 years old woman was found with her stomach torn and garbage stuffed inside. Her 40-day baby was burnt. Two 90 years old people, wife and husband were burnt alive as well. 46 years old Almamed was beheaded and burnt in a haystack…”.

What for? What was the purpose?! The big world, of course, did nor hear such a “small” groan.

What’s more, not only did Armenians skillfully hide their deeds, but even contrive to arrogate it to Azerbaijanis and raise a clamor: “HELP!!! Azerbaijan is annihilating ancient Christian Armenians!

Then Khojaly tragedy occurred and snowy Karabakh Mountains were crimsoned again. Another town is cleansed from Turkis (Azerbaijanis) – now they lied dead, women, men, kids and the aged. However, this truth reached Europe thanks to Azerbaijani reporter Chingiz Mustafaev and his French, British and other colleagues. And those honest-minded could know what really happened.

Formerly I considered telephone to be one of the most useful inventions. Now I think the same about video facilities as it enabled honest people to unmask Armenian “long-sufferers” which is a great feat. The world finally saw the deeds of Armenian cutthroats. Nobody could conceal it – for the first time! And something incredible happened: the Congress rejected pro-armenian congressman Wayne Ovens’s suggestion about sanctions against Azerbaijan. Jim Mody, a man of honesty, prevented this reading his report about Khojaly massacre.

I kneel and kiss Chingiz Mustafaev’s gravestone. This man was first to protect the Turkic world from Armenian’s wicked calumny. And we are grateful to foreign journalists who risked coming along with Chingiz despite hale of bullets. Being europe’s messengers, you, Mr. Stephan Ventura, A.Sel, Pory Patricks and others, managed to show the consequences of Armenian aggression – the mutilated dead bodies of Khojaly inhabitants. And, what’s more, you resisted the awful power of Armenian terrorism. We will never forget this feat. I imagine what an ocean of papers would Armenians have dumped on europeans’ heads had Azerbaijanis committed the same against them.

looking through the press-cuttings dedicated to Khojaly massacre I chose an article by Arif Yunusov as the most substantial and chronologically ordered one. The author refers to Azerbaijani, Russian and other press.

Khojaly Massacre

Private investigation experience

Brief inquiry about Khojaly. Before 1987 it was a suburb (4000 inhabitants) through which passed two mail roads: Agdam-Shusha and Askeran-Hankend (the latte was renamed into ‘Stepanakert’ after Stepan Shaumian, an Armenian Bolshevik who was in charge of 1918 massacre of Azerbaijanis). The only airdrome in Upper Garabagh was here. Both sides knew the strategic significance of the town from the beginning of the conflict. Armenians were trying to occupy it while Azerbaijanis announced Khojaly ‘a town of Republican value’ and enlarged it twice as much. Many Azerbaijanis driven out of Armenia, meshetian Turks from Fergana and others were settled here. By 1990 the population reached 10000 inhabitants. After armenians began attacking Khojaly over 3500 people left. At the moment of major attack the town was protected by 160 National Army soldiers headed by Alif Hajiev. This was not enough especially considering lack of artillery (they had only one “Alazan” mount). Practically there were only automatic guns against Armenian and Russian heavy technical equipment. Since October, 30 1991 the bus service was interrupted and the only hope was air communication. Since January, 2 1992 the inhabitants were deprived of electricity. Last time a military helicopter landed here to unload some food and fuel. Since this date the town lived expecting Armenians to assault.

What did Armenians say? It’s not surprising to hear them denying destruction of Khojaly. They asserted it was a propagandist action of Azerbaijan. Of course, the existence of 366 Russian motorized infantry regiment was denied as well (“Независимая Газета”, 28.02.92.). after the videotapes were spread in mass media another resource “Pro-Armenia” referring to a French reporter Florence Davis called the tapes “an amateurish work” of Turkish (Azerbaijanis were meant) journalists. Soon Mrs. Davis rejected the statement arrogated to her.

It was dangerous to deny the fact of massacre but still avowals were made with several reservations. Many and statements saying that seizure of Khojaly was a war necessity, no one intended to kill the inhabitants, that a special ‘corridor’ was opened so that the refugees could leave the town safe but it was used by the National Army soldiers who as if screened by the civilians wanted to get through which lead to human casualties – 200 civilians and 40 soldiers (“Независимая Газета”, March 3, 5). According to rissian and other foreign representatives who visited Upper Garabagh this was an official version of Armenian authorities; “amended” by the latter: the “safety corridor” was allegedly created for the civilians (the soldiers could use it as well – without weapon and technical equipment), but the inhabitants chose another way, ran across Armenian block post and destroyed it (???!!!). then the rest of Armenian posts were ordered to open fire what they had to do. This time Armenian officials avowed “some acts of brutality”, but specified it was vendetta by refugees from Sumgait and Baku or their relatives. “Atrocities had no general character” – this statement was continuously repeated.

In fact, committing genocide, the ‘Dashnaktsutiun’ leaders aimed not only at scaring 1.000.000 Azerbaijani civilians, provoke them to behave in same way and therefore find the justification to their brutality; – the objective was to make 120.000 Upper Garabagh Armenians the hostages of armenia’s policy as they were automatically loosing any opportunity to stay within Azerbaijan. Now these 120.000 armenians had no other way but to fight till victory. Besides these two birds killed with one stone there were no ways to negotiations.

A little bit about Moscow’s position.

From the very beginning Russian officials denied the fact of 366 motorized infantry regiment participation in the massacre of Azerbaijanis. A little later, under the pressure of facts some of the militaries “…admitted to their participation, which does not mean that the whole regiment assaulted Khojaly by someone’s order…”. Russians did not conceal its sympathy to Armenia, while as Moscow officials were irritated by azerbaijan’s intention to have army and disinclination to ratify the CIS treaty.

366 motorized infantry regiment in Khojaly.

To elucidate the role of Russian regiment is the massacre has key value for understanding the reasons of the tragedy. As known, Armenians and Russians at first denied the fact that 366 regiment was enabled. Later they found another dodge saying: “The regiment itself was not enabled but some of the soldiers and officers broke their military oath and deserted”. Azerbaijani and foreign press wrote much on this occasion. Summing up these materials we can make a conclusion. But let’s first give an inquiry.

366 motorized infantry regiment belonged to 4 army 23 division. In November 1885 it was transferred to Hankendi from Gandja. 1800 military men should have been on the staff but factually there were only 630 men left, 129 were officers and ensigns, 49 armenians by origin. Since spring 1991 lieutenant colonel Zarvigorov (Armenian) was appointed the commander of the regiment. According to numerous witnesses including runaway soldiers all of the technical equipment and personnel were subject to Armenians. There was a specific system of recompense: for bombardment the town of Shusha Armenians granted 20 litters of alcohol, for participation of one troop-carrier in operation against Azerbaijanis the commander was rewarded 5000 rubles, for opening fire at one of Azerbaijani inhabited locality – 1000 rubles etc.

the plan to assault Khojaly was ready by February 19-20. in accordance with the plan the personnel left Hankendi (which Armenians renamed into ‘stepanakert’) on 23 February. The impact force was 2nd battalion commanded by major Seiran Oganian and 3rd battalion lead by major Yevgeni Nabokih quartered in Ballija village, while as less dependable 1st battalion quartered in village Chanakchi secured their rears.

Seizure of Khojaly.

The inhabitants knew the town would be assaulted any day. The chief executive Elman Mamedov permanently asked for help which could not come considering the fact that Khojaly was encircled. On 24 february a captured Armenian soldier informed about preparations to assault.

From the morning of 25 February 2nd and 3rd battalions started approaching to the town. The chief executive elman Mamedov vainly tried to get in touch with Aghdam; electricity and telephone were out. Severe bombardment started at 20.30. two hours later the armored machines of the 366 regiment entered Khojaly, Armenian infantry came next. They attacked from three flanks except askeran direction which was the “corridor”. This attack was accepted by only 160 azerbaijani fighters. Around 2 o’clock in the night severe battles was going on specially close to the quarters and airdrome. They stopped when all of the Khojaly fighters heroically died. True, the shooting carried on separately but they were of isolated character though it enabled most of the inhabitants to leave the town (still many could not escape). This was the first stage of the tragedy.

Having crossed the freezing waters of Gargarchay river most of the escaped moved in direction of Kettiy mountain trying to reach Nahchivanik village – the day before they were informed on radio transmitter (who did?!) that the village was repelled by Azerbaijani troops. They ran across several Armenian posts. The most serious casualties were near Ketuk village where over 500 men were killed and captured. Those stayed alive moved to Shelli and Nahchivanik villages. Protected by 15-20 azerbaijan National Army and self-defense fighters managed to reach Nahchivanik by 7 o’clock in the morning. They were expected by Armenian tanks and snipers. Terrible massacre which consequences were filmed by Azerbaijani and foreign operators took place at the pig farm.

Some of them who could flee moved in direction of Gulably village but they faced Armenians on their way as well and over 150 khojaly inhabitants were killed there. The rest of them was ambushed near Gulably but some of them could get through on February 27. Small groups could find their way out moving on the right side of Askeran forests.

***

there are no correct figures of dead people. One of the first lists issued in “Ordu” newspaper (№№ 9, 16, 20) consisted of 636 names. Still it was incomplete and made first week after the massacre. In fact, the official figures are based on the number of dead bodies which is not correct. It’s known that over 700 corpses were brought to Aghdam. But these are only those possible to be obtained from the occupied territory. It is known as well that later 751 of the captured were released after month-lasting negotiations. Unfortunately there are no more figures. Many people, especially children and women were frozen to death on their way. Many were killed at the beginning of the assault. The number of killed in capture is not known as well…

It was said, written, shown a lot about Armenian brutality and mutilation of dead bodies. So we do not need to repeat what was reported by the “Memorial” remedial centre.

Finally, let us say something about the injured persons. In the log-book of the hospital train in Aghdam 598 injured and frost-beaten men are registered. Scalping alive was reported by the “Memorial” remedial centre as well. According to the same source, 300 men including Mesheti Turks were brought to Hankendi (‘stepanakert’). Some of them were taken to the private houses to be exchanged for Armenian prisoners. According to the testimony of those released they were systematically tortured. All women (underage as well) were raped.

Was there any corridor?

In A.Mutalibov’s interview given to Russian “Nezavisimaya Gazeta” as well as in armenians’ statements was said the assaulters created a ‘safety corridor’ for Khojaly inhabitants but the latter “…did not use it…” (??!) which caused great human casualties. As the ‘corridor’ version is very popular among Armenians we should look through it.

Armenians hesitantly told the Moscow representatives who visited Khojaly soon after the tragedy that safety corridor existed and Azerbaijanis were informed on radio. There was no answer to logical questions “Who was informed exactly?” and “Who informed?”. Later, when “Memorial” remedial centre representatives tried to investigate the matter Armenian officials said quite another thing this time. According to new version, the assaulters informed civilians by means of megaphones set on armored troop-carrier machines about the ‘safety corridor’ which began at the eastern outskirts of the town. The width was 100-200, sometimes even 300 meters. Moreover, the assaulters assured the “Memorial” representatives that leaflets reading about the assault and ‘safety corridor’ were systematically being thrown on Khojaly from the helicopters a few days before the assault. As “Memorial” representatives reported, there were no leaflet presented or found and no such information was given by the refugees.

What can we conclude? First, even if Armenians actually informed Azerbaijanis by means of megaphones (none of the refugees confirmed this allegation), they could not be heard from decent distance in the course of severe bombardment. I.e., even if we can trust this version one should note: the information must be given before the assault and a package of measures must be undertaken in order to realize the plan.

One the other hand there was no shooting from Askeran side. But can we consider this a ‘corridor’? there were Armenian armed forces in Askeran direction who repeatedly tried to attack the town on that sector. Therefore why should the civilians (moreover - not being informed) have regarded this direction as the safest? They would have been captured by Armenians anyway.

This is why the “safety corridor” version is rejected.

The final stage of the tragedy.

The sides involved in the massacre behaved differently. Armenians not expecting such an adverse reaction by the world community (in the West especially), had first denied the scale of the massacre, later began to search for justification and finally armenian officials squeeze out: “Yes, there were some isolated instances of outrage (??!) but this is drastic logics of war, our soldiers have a little bit overdone it”.

The militaries behaved quite differently. On one hand, they aggressively denied participation of the 366 motorized infantry regiment in the massacre, on the other hand the traces were urgently being covered. On 27-28 of February the commandment was entitled to prepare the technical equipment to march and concentrate in the landing sector by 1 March midday. But only the 3rd battalion which personnel hurried to leave the region was there on time.

As for the 2nd battalion lead by major Oganian, it simply came over to armenians’ side with all equipment and most of the personnel. By 2nd of March evening the regiment personnel was brought to Georgia (Vaziani) on helicopters. On 10th of march according to Y.Shaposhnikov’s order the regiment was disbanded. The moor did what he did.

Undoubtedly, there are many gaps in this matter. moscow’s role was great, but who was the coordinator? Not everything is clear with special services – their role remained secret. These questions need explanation. Will we get it?

I would like to clarify the version of ‘safety corridor’ and show what it means when practiced by Armenians.

There is a rule in war prosecution which obliges the assaulters let civilian population leave the military actions sector – this is what normal people understand as “safety corridor”. This is more obligations to spare civilians’ lives than humanity, this is duty to observe human rights, obey the generally accepted norms of war prosecution. As you could read above, Arif Yunusov asks a question: “Was there any corridor?”. His conclusion is: “The ‘safety corridor’ version should be rejected”.

Right, there was no safety corridor. But the corridor itself did exist. An Armenian corridor. This was reported by “Memorial” representatives. What kind of corridor was that? It seems “Memorial” representatives could see the sense: “The ‘safety corridor’ allegedly created for refugees can be understood either as an attempt to cleanse the town from local population or Armenians’ disability to provide for human rights in the territories controlled”.

Armenians terrorist ‘heroes’ are distinguished for “corridor matters” as well. The “corridor” for them is not a rule to be observed but greatest opportunity to be used. They have used this rule since long time ago. Let’s see: “Armenians attacked Muslim villages encircled from three sides so that the inhabitants could flee. Thus, the village was seized. Following the inhabitants Armenians slaughtered them” [41]. A tried method.

So, instead of normal safety corridor Armenians use their invention, the Armenian death corridor. According to the results of Khojaly ‘corridor’ one can imagine how they did it. The town is being bombarded from three sectors, leaving the forth sector ‘free’. The population trying to escape rashes from side to side and finds this ‘free-of-fire’ direction. The Khojaly ‘corridor’ was created at night: people were jumping out of beds half-naked, sometimes barefoot and rushed in the snow, in Karabakh’s February frost just in order to get out of this hell. The eastern road to Aghdam was let disengaged (the town was attacked from three sides) intentionally so that people hopefully headed for Aghdam.

This is not imaginable for the reader. The less secured are Turkis the more ruthless is Armenian; a crowd of people escaping from armed Neanderthals; children crying, hurting their knees and heads till bleeds, - the path is neither for children nor for the adults. In fact there was no path – only hoarfrost rocky mountains covered with snow.

Minesh Alieva, aged 50, with gunshot wound at the arm:

We were dragging through the forest falling into snowdrifts” [68].

Sobbing women trailed their children, weakened old men hurried the others although they remained behind themselves. Some of them fell down, the others trailed them out of the snowdrifts; helpless people supported those more helpless.

Samed Talybov, aged 62, feet frostbitten:

...the town was in fire. People mad with horror rushed in various directions. Our group of 120-130 people ran to the Kettiy forest. Many of them were barefoot, without caps, sleepy” [68, с. 38].

Where are the greatest painters? Where are Goya, Vereshagin, de Lacrouoir? Non of them can depict this tragedy as they could neither see nor imagine it. Even Salvador Dali himself, with his insane fancy would never have been able to imagine such a picture or choose a name for it. “Brutality”? “Horror”? “Cruelty”? NO! This is called genocide. This is not imaginable. One should see it, be there, rush in this mad flow, from one death to another – with scalping, putting out eyes, beheading.

So, what was happening on the way?

Sona Alieva, frostbitten feet, toes amputated. Was hiding in forest for 12 days.

…My husband was wounded before we managed to escape from the town. He couldn’t go and didn’t want to come with us. But we helped him and dragged him to the forest. He was racking from pain for three days asking me to give him water. I had to give him snow. But he wanted some water. Before he died he said ‘Take the passports and money from my pocket’. I could not bring myself to take it” [68, pp.37].

___________

having left the bodies of those who died frozen or wounded the people managed to get to the plain. Finally rescued? NO!

Yaver Abiev, aged 7, wounded at his arm and chest:

when the bombardment began we hid in neighbor’s cellar. Later we fled to the forest…

Nasiba Abiyeva, (Yaver’s mother):

...there were 40 of us, about 40 men. When we reached the bridge we saw a group of soldiers wearing emergency plat uniform. They started calling us in Azeri language. Happy to be saved, we ran ahead but then we understood they were Armenians. Yet, it was too late and they opened fire. Only 14 of us survived” [60, pp. 30].

The plan of “Khojaly liquidation” as Armenian officials called this ‘operation’, was worked out by scores of Armenian generals, Russian and American military colleges. The actions were in accordance with the plan and obviously, every point was carried out in detail. When the first flow of refugees approached Armenian-populated village of Katuk (armenianized name of Kettiy) the first stage of the ‘operation’ started – it was firing from three sides.

Humar Salimova, aged 19, missile wounds at face and forearm:

“We didn’t know where to run… so we headed for Kettiy mountain. While we got closer hundreds of people left lying shot by Armenians… two women who lied next to me were killed, I got two missile wounds” [60, pp. 53].

As A.Yunusov writes, “In A.Mutalibov’s interview given to Russian “Nezavisimaya Gazeta” as well as in armenians’ statements was said the assaulters created a ‘safety corridor’ for Khojaly inhabitants but the latter “…did not use it…” (??!) which caused great human casualties” [67].

So, according to Armenian version, refugees’ “disinclination” to use the corridor caused human casualties. What are they talking about? Most of Khojaly inhabitants were slaughtered not in the town itself, i.e. not “before” or “inside the corridor”. Most of them could manage to get out of Khojaly. Does it have any sense whether there was “safety corridor” or not? People were massacred after they had escaped from the town, so it’s just an Armenian nonsense (or demagogy?). Total killings, premeditated, supraliminal action of genocide by Armenians were implemented outside the town and “corridor” (no matter what kind of “safety corridor” it was – ‘good’ or ‘bad’).

Knowing about the number of town inhabitants Armenians clearly understood (they have the experience) it was impossible to kill them all. Although Azerbaijanis were unarmed, there were many of them and not a single man should have been missed! Therefore bravest Armenian ‘heroes’ made what militaries call “threefold ambush” (excluding numerous intermediate block posts).

The first ambush was made near kettiy village. Although the ‘operation’ was being carried out in darkness, “hundreds of refugees were killed and captured” [67]. Was it a mistake? If it were, Armenians would have informed the other posts not to fire, let the people go further to Aghdam. They had satellite communication, so it was not a mistake. Moreover, is it possible for an Armenian to let such a great number of Azerbaijanis go away?

Those having survived after the first ambush headed for Nahchivanik. By the way, the day before they were informed on radio transmitter that the village was repelled by Azerbaijani troops. Who informed them?! Nobody knows. But we can assume the information was given by Armenians. This must have been an integral part of the ‘liquidation plan’, so that the refugees were not scattered and went to the “major pinfold” – Nahchivanik village.

So, the refugees got out of the forest and approached nahchivanik. The main ‘attack’ (better to say ‘massacre’) was made right here. A large dark crowd of people was clearly seen on white hilly field; they were awaited by tanks and guns. Can you imagine tanks attacking women and children?

The shooting begins from three sides, and the semicircle of machine gunners turns into cycle. The ‘objective’ is clear – dark crowd on white snow. White and dark (let’s say black). As the gunners carry out their duty third color is added – red spots around dark bodies on white snow.

According to Russian publicist Y.Pompeev, “As the ‘Moscow News’ correspondent Victoria Ivleva wrote, she was in the second attack echelon. When they approached the town of Khojaly she saw ‘…something that resembled a cloud moving up to us. The cloud turned out to be a crowd of people. Among these people I saw a young woman who walked barefoot, last in the row of older women. She had three children the smallest of which was infant in arms’.

What happened to this woman as well as many others from that ‘cloud’ I could later see on the videotape record which sound-track consisted of the operator’s sobbing. People were shot down point blank, falling on their backs, with faces turned to God” [49, pp. 8].

Almost everybody was killed and captured there in Nahchevanik village. But still not everybody! A group of people could escape before encircled by the Armenians who had foreseen this. The third line lying in ambush near Gulably village “welcomed” this group of Azerbaijanis with firing – and over 200 people were shot [67].

Still some of them managed to force their way through. Khojaly chief executive Elman Mamedov was the only one to escape among his 23 relatives. Vekil Alekperov lost 49 relatives. The most horrifying is the way Armenians murdered azeri civilians. For the ‘quality’ of killings Khojaly massacre was called “the tragedy of 1992 year” by the American congress. I bring here some examples of the “quality”:

Aslanov Ingilab, Azerbaijani National Army soldier. Eyes put out, genitals excised, beheaded.

Mamedova Tamara, wounded. Was dragged before the “public” (consisting of Armenians and captured Khojaly inhabitants). Her eyes were pierced with a screw-driver, breasts excised, and then she was killed.

Many of the captured were burnt, especially soldiers and Mesheti Turks. Huseinov Shahin, Aghaiar Imani, Mamedov Saray, Rajabov Jabrail, Farzaliev Jahan – these soldiers were bound, poured with petrol and burnt [68, с: 92—94].

Kerimov Samray. Found dead with eyes pierced out and bottle pushed into anus [68, pp. 92-97].

Now look through the results of one cluster of dead bodies (181 corpses) brought to Aghdam.

According to injuries: 151 bullet wounds, 20 shell wounds, 10 butted injuries. According to location of injuries: head – 40, chest – 74, stomach – 17, extremities – 11.

Three of the bodies had extremities frostbitten, 33 had sings of tortures: scalping, excision of breasts, genitals, noses, auricles, shooting at women’s reproductive organs, tooth extraction.

31 bodies with signs of compound torturing – bullet wounds, butted injuries, stabbing and cutting.

13 bodies were half/totally burnt, 10 of them had signs of crushing by heavy military machines [68, pp. 27-29].

let’s now think what did the ‘long-suffering’ Armenian fleecers mean by saying “safety corridor”.

1. ‘Corridor’ method is a great opportunity to exterminate Turkis and other enemies of “Great Armenia”, the cutthroats are absolutely secured. It is not absolutely safe to kill people in their own homes, be it even an armless man, woman or a teenager. It’s quite another matter to kill them from ambush – the Armenian warrior is absolutely safe and his victims are in plain view defenseless. This is Armenian humanism.

2. after the shooting is complete it’s possible to come out from the concealment. And Armenian warriors come out, each being proud of having done a number of acts of revenge. They approach those who still groan and finish them off; it’s very convenient to shot them at head or chest. But the best way is to smash their heads with a butt (so that to save bullets) [45]. This is Armenian heroism.

3. then expropriation begins. That’s a tradition! Do you remember the greatest expropriators – Andranik, Kamo, Shaumian and other Armenian terrorist “heroes”? it’s possible to expropriate everything more effectively if there is nobody alive. Sure, no one will show the hiding place in his/her own house. However, people take their valuables, bankbooks and money if they have to escape from the town; even kids sometimes take their toys. And the “heroes” can expropriate everything they want – no one will retort.

4. Adornments are taken very simply; the ‘warrior’ just has to cut of a finger or auricle [45]… from time to time they find brilliants. Armenians know the sense of valuables, some of them even fight in order to stand up for their “expropriation rights”. Usually the commander takes the disputable item. As for the golden tooth crowns they are pulled out with pliers. This is Armenian kindness.

5. after the valuables have been expropriated, “collecting” begins. The range of “collecting passion” varies from auricles and women’s nipples to scalping (for most enthusiastic ‘warriors’) [45]. It’s not just hobby – collecting brings money in rubles or dollars depending on kind and quantity of trophy. A composition of pleasure with benefit. This is Armenian culture.

6. “Corridor” is the best way to keep property intact. Enemies leave the town through the “corridor” abandoning houses, cattle, so nothing is spoilt or burnt, even no bloodspots! And newly brought Armenian families get their enemies’ property safe and sound [45]. This is Armenian generosity and practicalness (yet, not this time – 300 men were killed in their burnt houses before they could flee).

7. one more thing is needed – purity of hands and… conscience. If the population fled itself without any signs of destruction, blood i.e. “clears out the town on a voluntary basis” [see “IZVESTIYA”, 04.03.92], nobody will ask where the people are. They just fled through the ‘safety corridor’, no one knows which way. (Armenians did the same in Turkey and Azerbaijan before). While as they can imperturbably slaughter the civilians outside the town and burn the corpses. Both conscience and hands are clear (however, Armenians let their chance slip as they couldn’t make away with all of the dead bodies).

The direct evidence of armenians’ clear conscience.

_____________________

why did this happen in the end of XX century? A man beheaded by another man, burnt before everybody’s eyes while as the executioners dance in a ring… one day i spoke to a swiss journalist who had come to Baku. I tried to explain him what was happening in Karabah (it was before Khojaly tragedy), asking “Don’t the westerners really see who is the aggressor?”, “Why is there so few number of European journalists who write the truth?”. He answered “Dear sir, money is a powerful seduction. Armenians have money to pay for everything they need. Azerbaijan does not. Armenia would never dare attack you but they have many friends interested in this conflict”.

Russia’s role.

Here (and not only here) Armenians found the people who can keep silence, do not see and understand anything, do what Armenians need. How should I not believe the swiss journalist!

An open letter written by veterans from Siberia to USSR president M.Gorbachev was published in “Veten Sesi”, azeri newspaper [05.12.90]: “It looks like as if one of the rivals would have been given a baton and the other had his hands tied behind. Today Armenia has a troops armed with tanks, rockets, and Azerbaijan is armless with state of emergency announced there. This state of emergency is controlled by soviet Russian army (in Armenia the emergency state is controlled by Armenians themselves). […] We are military men so we know it’s impossible for bandits or anyone else to disarm a battalion, load the ammunition and drive away without any casualties from both sides…”.

These honest men have obviously never met the swiss journalist. On the other hand, Armenians met with Russian authorities the result of which is russians’ “good offices”: armament, assistance in armenia’s shady affairs (political, economic, financial etc.). An example Georgian-Ossetin war disrupted Russian gas delivery to Transcaucasia. Russia made amends to Armenia in amount of 1 billion rubles (despite Armenia’s larger debt for Russian gas). And nothing to the other aggrieved states.

Another example, military help. Russia’s 366 regiment was the major force to assault Khojaly. Armenians were moving behind this force, cowardly, stealthily as always. And how many ‘independent’ slanderers like Starovoitova, Nuikin, Alihanian-Bonner and others, how many “democratic publishing” (“Izvestia”, “Commersant”, “Ogonek”) were calumniating Azerbaijan calling us executioners and eulogizing armenia’s assaults of Azerbaijani towns and villages. Armenia was pleaded right for occupation of territories, slaughtering our civilians on our lands, and Azerbaijan was always guilty even if tried to protect his people.

And one more manifest example. On 24.02.92 radio of baku reported massive stroke of Shusha by Russian 366 regiment.

On 25.02.92 (note this date!) “Izvestia” entitled the editorial in capital letters: “NAGORNO-KARABAKH: ARMY UNDER aimed fire. another attempt to involve it into conflict by azerbaijan”.

And on 26.02.92 the army (Armenian army was meant) was involved into conflict. It assaulted Khojaly and ruined it killing the inhabitants.

29.02.92. “Izvestia” wrote: “Azerbaijan National Army troops invaded Nagorno-Karabakh territory from Aghdam area of Azerbaijan”. Can you smell reek of Armenian propaganda? They say Upper Garabagh (“Nagorno-Karabakh”) is not Azerbaijan! And the fact that Armenian and Russian expeditionary corps occupied Upper Garabagh, the territory of Azerbaijan and has already ceased Khojaly is not considered!

“Izvestia” wrote about Khojaly six days later, on 04.03.90. The contents of the articles reeked of Armenian propaganda as usual. This is how Armenia reached Khojaly, Shusha, Lachin and other regions – on Russia’s hump which they climbed with the help of Russian “democrats”. The “democrats” should be given their due, they know the sense of dollars and how to earn them in easier way.

The role of ‘democratic’ Russia in armenia’s occupation of Azerbaijani lands is obvious but not absolute.

Azerbaijan authorities’ role was not little as well. Internal struggle for presidency lead to disorganization of military structures which disabled the army to defend Azerbaijan.

And how about the other states such as USA, France, Germany and others? Certainly, they have geopolitical interests in transcaucasia. Each of them make a contribution to the conflict. History will upor the light on whether their contribution is negative contribution or positive. One fact is undisputed. The most ancient occupation mistress (as we know Armenians consider themselves as the most ancient ethnos) is used by whoever and however. Yet, not for sake of her becoming richer but in order to satisfy one’s own lust (i.e. geopolitical interests). However, no one feels anxiety of the risk to get aids or abomination.

The West flinched but did not wake up” – this phrase was mostly remarkable among the opinions gathered in numerous newspapers and gathered in “Azerbaijan” newspaper on 26 of February 1993. even “Le Monde” known for its pro-armenian position wrote: “It is worthless for humanity to ignore Khojaly tragedy”.

British “Independent”: “In those days by request of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and others the tragedy was reported at the UNO session and recognized as genocide committed by Armenian and Russian forces”.

According to washington correspondent of ‘Milliyet’ newspaper Turan Yagut, even some of American congressmen cursed Armenian fascism”.

“It was the first time the western states officials accepted that Russia with its aggressive army was at the head of the tragedy. In order to retain control over the region Russia is ready to cause tragedies there”.

“The UN and later USA changed their attitude towards the events happening in Azerbaijan after the tragedy”.

After detailed and sound report by Azerbaijan foreign Minister Tofiq Gasimov at the 47 UN General Assembly session in september 1992, UN had really changed its attitude. The facts of occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia and aggressiveness of Russian and Armenian armies were recognized. I think there is no need to comment this. However, we should add something to the phrase “The West flinched but did not wake up”: “and Azerbaijan, too”. But Azerbaijan will have to wake up. Sooner or later Armenians will make him wake up. And I don’t know whether their lamentations will work that time.

War is a calamity and crime that includes all other calamities and crimes” – a brilliant definition by François Voltaire. All wars have their end. But Armenian war is permanent. One can reject everything but not history. Here is a historic fact: as Armenians had received statehood (since 1918 to 1921; since 1988 till now) they started “struggling” against neighboring people, not a single day without “struggle” (they “struggled” without statehood as well, though not permanently)! But this is not all. Besides Voltarian “all calamities and crimes” Armenian war includes recklessness and baseness. Such are Armenian wars begun by themselves for sake of unreal, fantastic objectives, according to perilous plans. The reason is self-deception (and deception of others), belief in their own indubitable (!) lies inculcated by Armenian ideologists. By means of constant repetition and enforcement this deception was turned into a “sacred verity” which is ‘armenian truth’ itself.

“Armenian struggle” is not a war as itself but outrageous and base terrorism as it emerges from their “sacred verity”. Moreover, it does not presuppose actions implemented just to gain victory over the rival but to commit genocide of the local population or its deportation at best. History and results of Armenia’s aggression evidently show that in case of occupation of the territory by Armenians it is exposed to ethnic cleansings.

One more elucidation concerning “Armenian truth” should be given. Ordinary thief is always hesitant even trying to rob an old woman. Liar is not confident whether he is persuasive. Terrorist never knows if the act will be successful. Armenian brigands and liars are distinguished for absence of hesitation. Why? I think there are a number of reasons; one of them is that they have come to belief of their absolute impunity. So they lie loudly calling white color black, so assertively that it becomes useless and even dangerous to argue with them. This belief was created by christian Europeans who purposely indulged Armenian ideologists by assenting to their lies, because to accept every Armenian verity means to expressly ignore Muslims’ truth; this has always been profitable for the christian world and was cultivated centuries long. Here is the second reason – connivance by the world community.

Armenian politicians can not be truthful even if their people wish to be. Why?

Historically indulged, they enlarged the deception to an immense ‘castle in air’ with a fantastic name “Great Armenia”. The size is “from sea to the sea” with glitter no worse than of the soap bubble. Armenians think of it as a real kingdom which existed in distant past and … will be in near future. The path to the ‘castle’, i.e., ideology is fantastic as well. Is there any chance for verity in something based on fantasy? Bet there’s not. Therefore the “soap bubble” (I mean ‘great Armenia’) will burst with all dreams, expectations and hopes.

Due to such awful “ideology” inculcated into Armenians’ minds since 1870 the chauvinists deployed (especially in turkey) their activity dangerous both for Turkis and armenians. This was uncompromising bloody war against Ottoman Empire which citizens they were themselves. Armenian people had to obey their ideologists who called their treachery “patriotism”, their mutiny - “revolution”, their separatism - “self-determination”, genocide they committed - “liberation of Armenia”, territorial expansion - “defense” and terrorism – “legal revenge”. On the other hand, they called the reaction by Turkish population “barbarism” and legal measures of the Government taken to protect civilians (Armenian population was transported to Syria) – “Armenian genocide”.

The same situation we can observe today. War Armenians wage against Azerbaijan in order to annex Upper Garabagh (“Nagorno-Karabakh”) they call “self-determination”, Armenian expeditionary corps used in Upper Garabagh – “Karabakh armenians’ self-defense forces”, occupation of Azerbaijani towns and villages – “liberation of historical Armenian lands”, genocide committed over Azerbaijani civilians – “glorious victory” over occupants.

This is Armenian truth

In order to give the final definition of “Armenian truth” I would like to bring another example.

Armenian ex-president Ter-Petrosian was saying there were “…no Armenian troops in Nagorno-Karabakh, but only Karabakh self-defense forces”. I do not want to speak much about his role in this war (ter-Petrosian was on of the initiators of this war). Let’s refer to S.Bablumian, an Armenian correspondent of Russian “Izvestia” paper [01.09.92]:

“On the eve of entry into force of cease-fire regime between Armenian and Azerbaijan on September 1, the frontline was still hot. According to report by Yerevan (!) fights were still going on in Nagorno-Karabakh as well”.

I do not know whom the Armenian ex-president wanted to deceive. Is there another such a dolt? There are many of them. But these are not “innocent lambs” but criminals and hypocrites who have to pretend they “believe” even such a brazen report. I feel shameful for governments of great and small states who don’t have courage (or conscience?) to say: “Please, stop lying, Mr. Ter-Petrosian”.

________________

Now let’s see how the “Armenian truth” is cooked (as an example Khojaly tragedy is taken). Imagine “Izvestia” newspaper editorial staff let us inside the office situated on Pushkin’s square. We will listen to the opinions of interested party (interested in ‘liquidation’ of Khojaly) in the person of Robert Arakilov (do not confuse with Robert Arakelov), uninterested party in person of ‘Memorial’ remedial centre, the host in person of “Izvestia” chief editor and me, the commentator. The injured party is not to be let in; they are Azerbaijanis, moreover they cannot grease the palms of Russian media men. So, we will listen to them later. And now imagine the scene.

We are inside the office.

Host (chief editor): “Please take your seat, Mr. Arakilov

A didactic opening address by “Izvestia” [see newspaper dated 04.03.92]:

Each of the confronting parties will present their version and indisputable arguments gained through suffering”.

Commentator (hereinafter referred as to C.):

According to such logics both of the parties are right. But this is impossible as one of those fighting is always wrong. How can both Azerbaijanis subjected to massacres and Armenian cutthroats who wage war against us and have committed genocide be right? Well, thanks any way. Azerbaijanis could not express their point before Khojaly tragedy at all. Those massacred were called ‘executioners’ by the “democracy mongers” and the murderers were given out to be “victims”…

An Armenian is permitted to speak first.(every event concerning Karabakh war was given by Armenian journalist Bablumian, so he had become a standing reviewer of the newspaper). Robert Arakilov (hereinafter referred as to R.A.) says:

All rumors about massacre in Khojaly are nothing more than Azerbaijanis’ propagandistic action!” [Arakilov’s words are from “Izvestia”, 04.03.92].

C. that’s a surprise; he didn’t say “terrorist action” – the blood shed affected even Armenians. However, he smudged the talks about Khojaly with a mop of “Armenian verity”. An ‘authoritative refutation’ (for “Izvestia”).

“Memorial” remedial centre (hereinafter referred as to M.):

this is a tragedy impossible to justify. The report of Moscow remedial centre “Memorial” on mass violation of human rights concerning occupation of Khojaly town by Russian and Armenian armed forces on the night of 26 february 1992” [45].

“Among those found dead in the field were mostly women, old men and children. Only 200 dead bodies could be brought to Aghdam within 4 days. Most of the bodies had signs of harassment. 4 cases of scalping, one body beheaded”. 151 deaths caused by bullet wounds, 20 shell wounds, 15 butt-stroken. 598 injured and frost-beaten men are registered in the log-book of the hospital train in Aghdam. No precise data about the number of dead-frozen Khojaly inhabitants available”.

R.А.:Factually it’s not a town but small village (??!!) located near Stepanakert (Armenianized name of Hankendi)it was urgently given the status of a town… Azerbaijani families from remote areas started settling here”.

C.: (later Arakilov will admit Khojaly was a town). “…a village near stepanakert…” – that is what irritated the aggressors. How could a village become a town before its population increased? Which “…remote areas…” were the families from? Arakilov keeps silence so I will have to prompt him: these were Azerbaijani families driven out from ‘remote areas’ of Armenia and Azerbaijani areas of Upper Garabagh (‘Nagorno-Karabakh’) occupied by Armenians. Mesheti Turks were there as well.

M.: the population of Khojaly drastically increased in 1991 mostly due to influx of refugees from Armenia and occupied regions of Azerbaijan. Khojaly received the status of town.

C.: I wonder what the population according to Armenian sources was.

R.A.: the enemy managed to block the airport whereupon we couldn’t receive provision and medical supplies”.

C.: Azerbaijan authorities had restored controls with great late so that to prevent arrival of weapons, ammunition and mercenaries from Armenia. As for “medical supplies and provision” it was permitted for everybody. Moreover, Armenians living in Karabakh could purchase provision (but not weapons!) through any other city of Azerbaijan. In addition to that, to control the airport was not enough for Armenians to transport heavy military machines so they occupied another town Lachin in order to have the corridor through which they provided logistical support. Note, a Yerevan official says “…we could not get…”. It means Armenia (not Karabakh Armenians only!) wages the war.

R.A.: “NKR authorities decided to liquidate this hotbed of brigandism [Khojaly is meant].

C.: Do you know what NKR means? This is “Nagorno-Karabakh Republic”, separatist formation Armenians created in Upper Garabagh, the occupied lands of Azerbaijan. So, the ringleaders of Armenian separatists and brigands decided to liquidate “…the hotbed of brigandism…”. Didn’t this guy say: “All rumors about massacre in Khojaly are nothing more than Azerbaijanis’ propagandistic action”?! another “Armenian verity”.

But let’s listen how these Neanderthals “liquidated the hotbed of brigandism”.

М.: “’Memorial’ observers had witnessed active impertinent pillage of the newly-occupied town. The property was taken by Hankendi (‘stepanakert’) inhabitants and neighboring localities. Names of new owners were written on the walls of abandoned houses”.

“Izvestia” (hereinafter referred as to I.): [asking suggestive question]: “How many civilians were there in Khojaly at the moment of assault?”

R. А.: “There was almost nobody …”

М.: “At the moment of assault there were over 4000 people including defenders of the town”.

C.: according to Azerbaijani sources the number fighters was 160 [see 67].

R. А.: “When Armenian troops (!) entered the town (!) the rest of the civilian population was let out through the corridor between confronting parties”.

C.: Oops! See how much of “Armenian verity” in a single phrase! First: “When Armenian troops entered…”. The chief commander of Armenian troops Ter-Petrosian was saying there were no Armenian armed forces in karabakh but only Karabakh self-defense forces. Who of them presents greater “verity”? Second: “…troops entered the town”. Arakilov is either struck by amnesia or got tangled in his lies. As he said above, Khojaly was a small village but not a town. Third: “The rest of civilian population…” (so the Armenian official has admitted Khojaly was “a town with civilian population” but not a “…hotbed of brigandism…”) “…was let out through the corridor between confronting parties”. That is a complicated “Armenian verity”.

How could there be “confronting parties” if Khojaly had been encircled by Armenian troops and had no communication except radio since 13 of February? Only Armenian and Russian armed forces were deeply disposed around.

Further, what kind of “corridor between confronting parties” is he talking about? What is it for? For that the civilians could run between the confronting parties? Which way? If the refugees had been between Armenians and Azerbaijanis they would have got over to Azerbaijanis. No sane man (Arakilov not counted) would stride along the corridor whereas bullets and missiles are whining around.

М.: after seizure of the town by Armenian armed forces there were about 300 civilians including 86 Mesheti Turks”.

R.A.: “According to the participants of the assault, NKR officials and mass media representatives those who could not flee were brought to stepanakert”.

C.: Arakilov did not say a word about Armenian atrocities. He felt instinctively that such things may be talked about there in Yerevan but not before the foreign media. So let’s listen to ‘Memorial’ although its representatives were not there in that terrible night but wrote down the words of participants of the assault and other Armenians.

М.: “According to our representatives on 13.03.92 there were khojaly inhabitants seized hostage in Askeran including women and young girls. We have hard data proving the fact they were retained further as well.

The conditions of maintenance are confirmed to be extremely unsatisfactory… Hostages have signs of exhaustion …they were systematically beaten irrespective of gender and age. The observers were let to examine only some of the captured. Many of the hostages including under-age persons were evidently raped. The officials uttered a statement of regret where they admitted cases of brutality during the assault. However no attempts were made to investigate the crimes.

Seeing bare facts Armenians admitted there might have been some cases (?) of brutality as there were many persons with criminal record as well as soldiers resentful of their relatives’ deaths caused by azeris”.

C.: Having read S.Taranov’s article in “Izvestia’ [05.03.92] I was amazed by availability of conscious correspondents in this newspaper. Let’s permit him speak.

I.: “Chingiz Mustafayev’s filming show not azeri soldiers but point-blank fired civilians. The position of dead bodies proves they were killed in cool blood; there were no signs of flight or struggle. Many bodies had several wounds with one in head which means Armenians were finishing those who survived after the shooting. Some of the children were missing auricles. One old woman had left part of her face excised. Signs of robbery are evident.

C.: However, I hurried to be rejoiced. The next day S.Taranov ‘refuted’ everything. He issued an article entitled “Today nothing more disturbs more than Karabakh events” and followed by a picture of coffin taken to cemetery and woman with hands upraised. He wrote:

I.: “By the way, the tape Azeri representatives in Moscow were unambiguously (!) estimated by Yerevan and Stepanakert experts as forgery”.

C.: So simply. There was no massacre – that is the statement Armenians needed. Everything was forged by Azerbaijanis unlike vast amounts of dollars paid to the editorial staff. But sirs, it’s not respectable to raise second most ancient occupation to the level of the first.

Now I would like to tell a funny story to relax. A friend of mine who was in iran in 1943 told me how Russians tried to make a “democratic” (‘pro-Soviet’) republic. ‘We invited an Iranian man and concluded that a crowd of people would stride along the town with red flag crying “long live Shuravi [USSR]!” whereupon each of them got 3 tumans [Iranian currency]. They agreed and fulfilled the order. A half an our later we saw them striding again. What the hell… they waved british flag! As they approached we heard their slogan: “Long Live Ingilis [Britain]!” I pulled the man we talked with on his sleeve and hissed “What the hell are you doing? We paid you money!” The man said ‘Aghaye [Mr.] Shuravi, this is commerce. You paid us 3 tumans and we proclaimed your slogans, now the british paid us 5 tumans and we proclaim theirs. Who will forbid us to gain profit?’.

So, if “Izvestia” and other newspapers’ editorial staff make business how can we stop them even if their earnings are dirtier then that of Iranians’? it’s their “occupation”.

I.: “Did the 366 regiment personnel take part at the assault?”

R. А.: “The town (this is second time Arakilov admits Khojaly was town) was assaulted only by Karabakh Armenians’ self-defense forces”.

I.: [another issue dated 05.03.92]: “The covert becomes evident. Facts concealed by officials have been confirmed. Individual officers, ensigns and privates of Russian 366 motorized infantry regiment quartered in Stepanakert participated in the military actions …

C.: not bad if consider communistic “individual” and another phrase at the end of the paragraph:

I.: ...on both sides”!

C.: Does anyone understand this Armenian puzzle? I do not! It’s impossible to understand how one and the same regiment or even at least “Individual officers, ensigns and privates…” (with “individual” tanks, missiles and rockets) could assault, defend, seize and massacre one and the same town?

М.: “The town was assaulted by the 366 motorized infantry regiment personnel”.

R. А. “Now stepanakert is not being bombarded as intensively as before. This is the consequence of brigands’ being driven out of Khojaly.

C.: According to Armenian logics, Khojaly civilians were a mob of brigands. As Armenians consider, in order to live quiet they have to continue the “Armenian Cause” and expand the borders of their country annihilating their enemies, Turkic peoples. Yet, the lazy Turkic world will wake up some day. That day it will be finished with Armenian restlessness. Then everybody will rest.

R.A.: “According to the statement of NKR authorities the 40 Mesheti Turks families were taken under protection. They decided to leave the town though Armenians offered them to stay”.

C.: First, there’s no need to speak about so-called “nkr” anymore. Second, as Arakilov has said above, there were almost nobody, then where had the 40 Mesheti Turks families emerged from? Third, how should they have stayed (even if offered to)? Under “protection” of terrorists! “Uncivilized Turks” rejected Armenian “hospitability” (note Armenians were killing Mesheti Turks even more brutally than Azerbajanis).

No other people than Armenians can speak like this or think like this. Regarding the world community as imbeciles Armenians try to present their acts of capturing civilians as humanism. This is Armenian humanism.

You have read the interview of Armenian statesman full of “Armenian verity” – ill-considered, improbable, unconcealed, brazen pack of lies. We should take into consideration that Robert Arakilov is a smart and polite (he is an advisor and diplomat!) Armenian. Now imagine what Armenian terrorist-‘hero’ is like.

One more thing.

М.: according to Armenian sources the assaulters lost 10-12 men killed”.

C.: I wonder if they informed how many black men and russians were among those killed.

By the way, I would like that “friends of Armenia” considered this figure before they start lamenting for Armenian ‘sufferings’. One day they will groan about “Armenian genocide” in… Khojaly, having preliminarily attached zeros to these figures. And mercenary-minded ‘friends’ (like lord Bryce and Baroness Cox) will lay themselves out to prove armenians’ rectitude.

________________

Lords, Baronesses, Presidents, Chancellors etc. will ‘forget’ and even arrogate these crimes to us. And how about you Turks, Azerbaijanis? Will you really forget and forgive the crimes committed against you: bloody massacres of Khojaly, Shusha, Lachin, Kelbadjar, Gubadly, Jebrail, Zangilan, Fizuli, Aghdam? And how about massacres committed in 1905-1906, 1914-1921, 1987-1988? Can you forget it?

To forget (or forgive) murderous deed of the enemy who shed blood of your parents, kids, desecrated you daughter is not demonstration of kindness but crime, even more horrifying than that committed by enemies. However, Armenians have already started moving their chairs up to our tables. So, an Armenian ambassador to Russia F.Mamikonean spoke to Azerbaijani representative and made “joyful” statement saying: “I’m sure one day we will go on to a visit to each other”. Aren’t we normal people?

Now we will view how Armenian authorities resorted to various tricks in order to conceal Khojaly massacre and mutilation of corpses.

At the very beginning they used their accomplices and scribblers being confident (as usual!) just to ‘liquidate’ this fact:

All rumors about massacre in Khojaly are nothing more than Azerbaijanis’ propagandistic action!” [“Izvestia”, 04.03.92]. “By the way, the tape Azeri representatives in Moscow were unambiguously (!) estimated by Yerevan and Stepanakert [‘sacred’ centers of falsification!] experts as forgery” [“Izvestia”, 06.03.92].

later, driven into the corner after the tape had been shown, Armenians forced a confession: “…there might have been some cases (?) of brutality as there were many persons with criminal record as well as soldiers resentful of their relatives’ deaths caused by azeris” [45].

Yet, their statements about “regretting some cases of brutality” were irrelevant so Armenians could not get off with it lightly. The world has seen not “some cases” but mass killings committed by ‘longsuffering’ cutthroats. What should they do? Make provocations (as usual) in order to confuse the world community! Thus, “Pro-Armenia” agency issued slapdash fudge about French journalist Florence David’s certitude concerning invalidity of the tape showing consequences of Khojaly massacre. Later they said there was dead bodies interchange at the presence of Iranian Red Crescent representative.

Refutation by French journalists was issued soon after the smithereens of “Armenian verity” had come to surface. France Press agency (FPA) Moscow representative S.Benturres and his colleague from “Seng” TV company A.Selles. in discussion held by “Azerinform” correspondent at the Moscow FPA office they unambiguously stated following: “The Khojaly survey made by Azeri operators in Khojaly is true and there was no garbling. Neither French journalist Florence David nor Iranian Red Crescent officials were present and corpses interchange never took place” [“Панорама Азербайджана”, № 5, 1:992 г.].

These words would be enough to lay Armenian lies bare. Yet I would like the reader to see the continuation of the conversation which I find very remarkable.

We learnt about Khojaly tragedy on our arrival to Aghdam (it was Sat. February 29). In a group of such foreign journalists as FPA reporter David Brockly, American journalist Costa, british ‘Times’ operator Anatol Lewin we departed for Khojaly area on a military helicopter. We didn’t meet well known to us Florence david neither on our arrival to Aghdam nor within the group…

there we could see hundreds of mutinied dead bodies straggled on a spacious heel flank and in crevices. Some were lying in groups and some by one. The video survey was done by Azerbaijani operator chingiz Mustafaev. We stayed inside the helicopter fearing to be shot down by Armenians. Restricting ourselves to general video shots we got back to Aghdam where it was possible to talk to the victims of the tragedy. That night Aghdam was exposed to shell-fire from the direction of Askeran.

On Sunday all pilots were engaged so we managed to see that place only on 2nd of march being convoyed by two military helicopters. Florence David was not there that time as well. The conditions were better and we could make the video record. All bodies were in the same position as we saw them first time. It was terrifying…

We state with full responsibility that survey made by Chingiz Mustafayev is true and there was no falsification. If Florence David possesses different information let her present it. Maybe she spoke about another area of upper Garabagh as she informed bodies interchange but the area we attended lies within Askeran-Nahchivanik-aghdam ‘triangle’ three km far from Askeran and Aghdam borders”.

A.Selles: “analogical video subjects of Khojaly massacre shot by me were shown on 5th French TV channel. Such an assertion made by Florence david casts shadow upon my work”.

S.Bentur and A.Selles’s words were confirmed by Jean-Ives Uchette, 5th French TV Channel chief editor who joined the discussion. “Thus, another fake by florence David used by “Pro-Armenia” information agency was disclosed”, Azeri newspapers wrote. But in fact, the statement concerning invalidity of the video materials was arrogated to her. However, this very ‘statement’ was picked up from vast flow of information given by foreign agencies and used by Russian “News”, “Rossiqskaya Gazeta” (Parliamentary publishing house), “Pravda” and other resources.

As the information was just about to be issued Russian “Kommersant” stated that F.David was interviewed in… Yerevan. Unwittingly I recollected reports from Moscow papers (like “Kuranty”) which correspondents clarified information about weather conditions in the area of high-rank Azerbaijani statesmen carrying helicopter crash from…Armenian representatives’ office in Moscow.

Soon after the falsifications attributed to F.David had been disclosed the indignant French journalist refuted brazen arrogations made by “Pro-Armenia”. Then another canard was spread. Armenians admitted mass killings…but the massacre was committed by Azerbaijanis themselves. They said only such barbarians as Azeris could do this, but Armenians are civilized people who can never be engaged in atrocities.

Azerbaijani newspaper “Бакинский рабочий” [28.04.92] issued an article entitled ‘Pro-Armenian canard’: “…a publication of ‘Megapolice-Express’ contained an article written by ‘Pro-Armenia’ agency contributor Shehtman who blamed Aghdam inhabitants for scalping their own nationals. We would like to remind that “Pro-Armenia” agency editorial staff have recently been exposed as falsifiers by French journalist Florence David.

Shehtman’s statement contains other examples of mendacious accounts which appear from time to time Russian mass media at the suggestion of Armenian agencies like ‘Lur’, ‘Snark’, ‘Pro-Armenia’, ‘Aravot’ and others who strive for fall-off of relations between Russia and Azerbaijan…

Azerbaijani representatives expressed regret for Russian media’s publications of unverified information given by Armenian agencies”.

I can’t help being surprised seeing how some journalists go to work every day just in order to seat there scribbling newspaper hoaxes knowing it would sooner or later be refuted. Evidently there is a species of people with such vocation. Going to assignation houses, mistresses of most the ancient occupation go to work as well.

as I promised, we will listen to the aggrieved party after we leave the office of “Izvestia” editorial staff. Now imagine we sat down on a bench near the office entrance. Let them speak.

Elman Mamedov, chief of Khojaly executive power:

The assault started with heavy bombardment which lasted over two hours. They used tanks, armored troop-carriers, ‘Alazan’ missiles and fired from three sides. The only direction open was way to Askeran. By the time infantry entered the half-ruined town many people died. We could hold on till 2 o’clock. Unable to contain the attack we had to flee. Having waded freezing river we tried to get over Ketiy mountain. Many people, especially old men froze to death in forest on their way. Those who survived could get to a field at Nahchivanik village by 7 am. A great number of people were killed by heavy fire, mostly women and children. Those who could manage to escape the encirclement went to Gulably village and over 200 refugees were lost there. We started to cover the rest so that some of them could reach Aghdam. My seven companions in arms and me were unable to get out of encirclement near Gulably village as it was too late to do anything but we were lucky to find shelter. Therefore we had to stay there from 9 a.m. till 8 p.m. and got out after it had started snowing. We reached Aghdam 27 February morning”.

As I outlined above, E.Mamedov lost all his near relations including his old mother killed on her way to Aghdam.

Sanubar Alekperova, Khojaly inhabitant:

“Hasanabad, Mehtikend, Bozdaghy – Armenians bombarded the town from these positions. The earth tremored from tanks’ roaring. All women and children were told to hide in cellars. Then chief executive Elman Mamedov came and said we should flee so as not to be killed. Airport manager Alif Hajiev led us to Aghdam through the forest. We were ambushed near nahchivanik village. I can’t forget that massacre; a mass of corpses arose, people were dying on the snow in convulsions. My mother was among them and two daughters Sevinj and Hijran were wounded”.

Jamil mamedov:

“The tanks and troop carriers were destroying houses and squashing people alive. Armenians came behind the Russians. I took my 5 year old grandson and 14.000 rubles and ran to the forest. I wrapped the child with my clothes so that he didn’t freeze. But it didn’t work. Having understood my grandson would not survive in forest I went to Nahchivanik where Armenians captured us (I was surprised as we were informed the village had been repelled). I begged them to take the money and let us go to Aghdam. They beat me in response and took to the village headman who told them to lock me in a barn where Azerbaijani women and children had already been kept. We stayed there for 4 days without food and water. But there was no limit to Armenians’ ruthlessness. When they brought us to Askeran the barn appeared as paradise.

The mercenaries (I know the difference between local Armenians and those who arrived as I speak their language) were pulling my toenails out. There were mercenary negros as well, who hit me with feet on my face. After the tortures they exchanged me for a prisoner Armenian. my grandson stayed there. I also do not know anything about my wife and daughter”.

Saria Talybova:

“We were brought to an Armenian cemetery. It’s hard to tell what was happening here. 4 young Mesheti Turks and 3 Azerbaijanis were sacrificed over an Armenian ‘hero’s gravestone. They were beheaded. Then Armenians started to torture and kill children before their parents’ eyes. The dead bodies were pushed off to a ravine with a bulldozer. Not satisfied with the blood Armenians brought 2 Azeri soldiers and blinded them with screwdrivers”.

Janan Orujev:

“We were trying to force our way to aghdam through the forest. many of us died frozen. We ran across Armenians’ heavy fire near Nahchivanik village. Most of people were killed, and my son as well. He was only 16. my 23 year old daughter with twin children was captured as well as the other aged 18. she is pregnant. Please, save them!”

Mushfig Alimamedov (was wounded and stayed lied in snow for 2 days):

“We had riffles and guns. But the long-lasting blockade was exhausting. We had run out of ammunition and food. Long-lasted blockade made everybody exhausted. The bombardment started on 25th of February evening and the tanks entered Khojaly at midnight. First Armenians destroyed the airport. They didn’t spare anyone – neither men nor women and kids. Many people were burnt in their own houses alive, especially those who lived close to the airport. i can’t forget that smell of burnt human flesh so far. Most of the defenders were killed in the battlefield. The rest of them were trying to help us get to Aghdam through shelli village. Yet they were ambushed near nahchivanik; most of them were killed there. Near Shelli village people were ambushed again. Alif Hajiev, the airport manager who had organized the undisturbed operation of Khojaly airport was killed there, too. Armenians charged a high price for his head”.

Minash Alieva, aged 50 (gunshot wound at arm):

“We lagged through the forest falling into snowdrifts. As we were crossing the road I was fell shot, unable to stand up. They were shooting from everywhere. Alif Hajiev grasped me and dragged me to the roadside. Then he hid in the bushes and fired a burst at Armenians. The shooting stopped for a while. Alif shouted: “cross the road!

Periodically he fired on Armenians so that to make them stop shooting and give us the chance to cross the road and over 20 women and children managed to get through. As Alif tried to change the cartridge Armenians fired back. A bullet hit him on the head. That was awful to see”.

Not only have those aggrieved gathered here on Pushkin’s square. “Supergrasses”, the offenders’ agents, are here as well. Sometimes they even break into the conversation. Let’s see what they are saying.

“Pro-armenia” information agency delivered the opinion of separatist “nagorno-karabakh government” home affairs administration chief: “Military actions did not last long and there were no casualties among Khojaly inhabitants” [really?]. according to ‘Pro-armenia’ agency “…about 30 or 40 azerbaijani soldiers were killed during the military actions, over 100 men were captured. As for the dead bodies they were brought there by Azerbaijani soldiers themselves” [how? How could they bring thousands of dead bodies there? And where could Azerbaijani soldiers take the corpses from? That’s it – the ‘Armenian verity’!]. “Moreover, as home affairs administration chief pointed out, many of refugees froze to death”. I wonder how Earth can bear them.

Now let us listen to those who happened to witness this tragedy:

Yuri Yahovich, 366 regiment private:

armenians impressed on us that as Christians we must fight against Muslim Azerbaijanis. Most of the privates were kept in intolerable conditions. I could not bear this and had to leave the regiment and go over to Khojaly”. I’m grateful to Yuri’s parents who raised their son honest and fearless.

The testimony (starting with E.Mamedov and ending with Y.Yahovich) taken from ‘Seher’ newspaper, march 1992.

Hanlar Hajiev, Azerbaijan Defense Ministry medical service chief:

A three-year old boy with bandaged stump instead of leg shot off from large-caliber gun. A girl with bayonet-disfigured face… sitting here in baku we could not even imagine what was going on in Khojaly. Our hospital train was detached to Khojaly as local doctors did not manage to cope with their task. All of us came here voluntarily; ready to see anything but this. There was a great number of frost-bitten men – these were the refugees from Khojaly who were hiding in forests and hostages released from Armenian captivity. Almost all of them were barefoot, with their feet insensitive. Many people were under threat of amputation”.

V.Belyh, “IZVESTIA” correspondent (the only honest one):

From time to time they bring dead bodies exchanged for Armenian prisoners. One can’t see such in most horrible nightmare: pierced eyes, cut auricles, noses and heads, scalping. Atrocities had no limit”.

Leonid Kravetz, major:

…I had to take out the wounded men from stepanakert and was getting back through Askeran on 26 of February. Some spots on the snow attracted our attention. As we descended my flight engineer cried: ‘Look at those women and children!’ I saw over 200 dead bodies and armed men strolling among them. Later we got back and tried to take at least some of the corpses. A local policeman came with us; I don’t remember his name now. There he found his 4-year old son whose skull was smashed. This man got mad. Another child whom we managed to take out before Armenians started shooting, was beheaded. Disfigured bodies were lying all around”.

Jean Ives Junete, French journalist:

We witnessed Khojaly tragedy seeing hundreds of civilians’ dead bodies – men and women of any age, kids flying by helicopter around Khojaly and neighboring areas. However, Armenians started firing upon our helicopter so we could not complete filming. It was horrible to see. I heard a lot about wars, Nazis brutality but never could I imagine this. Later we saw many injured men in hospitals, wagons, even in kindergarten and school buildings”. [“Le vérité”, 30.03.92]

Rory Patrics, ‘Frontline News’ journalist, Great Britain:

Khojaly massacre is impossible to justify. Near Nahchivanik village where we could hardly get by helicopter I saw many disfigured corpses. These were not military men but civil inhabitants of Khojaly who were trying to get to Aghdam through armenians’ heavy fire”. [Frontline news, 20.04.92]

Murvet Mamedov, aged 9, injured:

“They shot me on my leg and my elder brother Ahmed on arm. […] I could see Armenians cutting dead peoples’ ears. They were also extracting some woman’s golden coronas. I feared they would pull my teeth, too”. [Testimony derived from “Svoboda” 12.03.92]

and finally I would like to give the floor to Chingiz Mustafaev. He deserved this more that anyone else, having not spared his life to break the armor of Armenian lie; due to his actions the world could see the grin of Armenian monster without its “long-sufferer’s mask”.

Chingiz Mustafaev, “ANS” correspondent:

“… First time we got to that place on 28 of february, convoyed by two military helicopters. From 100 meters height we saw a plot of 500 meters radius with dead bodies spread all around it. The pilots hesitated to land as the territory was controlled by Armenians. Shooting began as we landed. The policemen who came with us had to take out as much corpses as possible. But they managed to take only four. We were all shocked. Two guys fainted seeing so many disfigured dead bodies. Most of us felt sick…

the same thing was on 2nd of march when we came with foreign journalists. The bodies were even more disfigured than we had seen them last time. Obviously Armenians had been mutilating them during this time…”

a legal opinion was given by the abovementioned “Memorial” remedial centre experts. It is free of emotion. But still consider how much of killing lead there is in the cold indictment fixing crimes committed by Armenian chauvinists to be tried at Nuremberg.

“Moscow remedial centre Memorial”: evaluation of the information received [45]:

during the assault made on Khojaly town mass outrage over civilian population took place. The declared version of ‘safety corridor’ as though made for civilians to leave the town can be regarded either as premeditated actions to ‘cleanse’ the town from local population or admission of incapacity to provide observance of human rights (independent of race and nationality) on the territory under control.

The information about ‘safety corridor’, if there was any, was not brought to the notice of Khojaly inhabitants. Those unable to flee from Khojaly after the assault were deported in organized order; most of the hostages were kept in stepanakert as ordered by the authorities. Mass killing of the civilians located in the zone of declared ‘safety corridor’ and the adjacent areas could not be warranted by any circumstance. Capture and retention of the hostages is contradictory in terms to the declared (by the Armenians) readiness to gratuitously return the captured men. Retention conditions are inadequate; outrage on hostages is common.

Khojaly inhabitants were illegitimately deprived of their property which was appropriated by Armenians living in Stepanakert and surrounding inhabited areas. The authorities of separative “Nagorno-Karabakh republic” legalized such actions permitting appropriation and issuing orders for settlement in houses left by Khojaly inhabitants.

CIS-possessed Russian 366 motorized infantry regiment personnel participated in the assault. According to ‘Memorial’ remedial centre, the cases of Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians’ participation in military actions in this region require comprehensive investigation.

The actions by Armenians towards Azerbaijani civilians committed in the course of Khojaly assault violate the Universal Human Rights Declaration (accepted by the UNO General Assembly in 10th of December 1948):

Article 2

Proclaiming “each person will possess rights and freedoms declared not dependant on spoken language, religion…, ethnic origin or any other attitude”;

Article 3

Recognizing every person’s right for life, freedom and security of person;

Article 5

Interdicting brutal, ruthless or humiliating treatment against person;

Article 9

Interdicting arbitrary arresting, retention or expatriation;

Article 17

Proclaiming each person’s right to possess property and interdicting arbitrary deprival of this property.

_______

grossly was violated the Declaration “for women and children Security within Emergency” saying ‘Women and children who got into emergency or military conflicts for self-determination, national independence, or are living within occupied territory will not be deprived of homes, food, medical aid and other inalienable rights in accordance with the Universal Human Rights Declaration, International Civilian and Political rights Treaty, Infant Rights Declaration and any other International legal act’.”

Yuri Pompeev regards the photos made by abovementioned Victoria Ivleva as the document for assize. He writes:

“One of V.Ivleva’s photos depicts four Armenian ‘heroes’ standing over Azerbaijani’s prostrated bodies; just like Nazis against the background of gallows in their triumphant frenzy. Not daring to recommend the readers to even look through Ivleva’s photo-report I want to show how Konstantin Voevodski, a corrupt ‘democracy-monger’ (and my countryman, to my regret) described the equipment of the triumphant Armenians occupants which he saw on these pictures in Pro-armenia magazine:

“Most of them are wearing black or khaki commandos uniform. They put cartridge belts on waist and chest (cross-wise). A gun, sometimes two is a necessary detail as well as ‘pineapples’. Doesn’t it scare you enough? If not, consider handmade bombs in breast pockets”.

Aren’t these pictures the evidence to start trial at Hague?!”

Of course they are, dear Mr.Pompeyev. but do you think puppeteers would judge their puppet for harder diligence? Armenians act in accordance with conductor’s (i.e. great powers’) baton although it is easier to quit the game called “Armenian national movement” than to carry it on.

It is not blood that washes another blood but water” – this is one of the golden rules of Koran. But the desecrated honor can only be cleaned with blood of the offender. So has always been in the orient. But how will it be in the future? Azerbaijan must defend himself. How? Armenia is indulged with help of West (and partially Orient). But Azerbaijan is represented as the aggressor and almost deprived of support. This is why we must overcome this for ourselves.

__________

lastly, I want to add something. Armenians could not manage to commit genocide completely. During his first flight to Khojaly Chingiz Mustafaev found a child wrapped with shawl among the dead bodies. Later AzerTV showed him inside the helicopter holding the child, little Fazil. This way his mother, Valida was found. 1 year of age kid was brought from orphanage to the hospital where his mother was. Both were treated for a long time. Validas words:

In that massacre my three brothers, my husband, brother-in-law, three nephews. When they shot me on my leg I understood I could not save my child. So I wrapped him with shawl and placed between the dead bodies hoping our men would com and find him”.

To go where Armenian thugs stroll around heaps of corpses, to take a single small body and bring it back to live – does anybody imagine such a heroic deed? Or does anybody understand its value? Chingiz did, and he gave whole life this way. Today the boy he saved is safe and sound. On his mother’s will he was given surname Chingiz. Now the boy’s name is Fazil Chingiz. So, that was not a complete genocide. Chingiz Mustafaev, a journalist, warrior and hero has done a lot for Azerbaijan. And one of his greatest exploits is rescue of new generation – the generation of Fazil Chingiz whose descendants will contribute to the cause of their ancestors.
